Terrorist Attack Shakes Berlin
Tragedy struck the capital of Germany on December 19th when Anis Amri, a 24-year-old Tunisian seeking asylum in Germany, hijacked and drove a tractor-trailer truck through the renowned Berlin Christmas Market. The horrific attack killed 12 and injured at least 48 others. Four days following the attack, Amri was killed in a shootout with police in Milan, Italy. At the time of the attack, Amri was being considered for deportation by the German government, but had not yet met the legal requirements for deportations. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, posting a video of Amri pledging his allegiance to the radical militant group.
