Another Day, Another Lawsuit: States Sue Trump Over Census Question
At least 12 states are planning to sue the Trump administration after the decision was made to add a question about citizenship to the 2020 census. The states believe this question will result in less responses, as those residing in the U.S. illegally will be less inclined to answer. Many government officials believe this will lead to an inaccurate count of the number of residents in the United States, resulting in a lack of funding for state and local governments. The states suing the administration claim this additional question is illegal, as the Constitution requires every resident of the U.S. to be counted in the census, legal or not.
