The Florida legislature rejected a motion to consider a bill that would ban many semiautomatic guns and large capacity magazines on Tuesday. This vote occurred as dozens of survivors of last week’s deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were present at the Capitol in Tallahassee to demand gun reform. House Bill 219 would ban AR-15 rifles, the gun used in the shooting, which left 17 dead. Students of Stoneman Douglas were shocked by the vote, with one stating, "They had a chance to stop it today, if there is another mass shooting (in Florida) it's going to be their fault."
