Chicken Shortage Leads to KFC Shutdown in U.K. and Ireland
Fans of Kentucky Fried Chicken in the U.K. and Ireland were disappointed over the weekend when a shortage of chickens meant that many of the 900 KFC outlets were forced to shut down and they couldn’t get their fried chicken fix. Apparently, the problems were caused by the new delivery partner, DHL. After apologizing on Saturday, the chain reopened 300 outlets by Monday – although they were all operating on shortened hours and a limited menu – but did not say when the remaining ones would be opened again. DHL said their deliveries were incomplete or delayed due to operational issues.
