Moore wins GOP Primary in Alabama Special Election
The GOP Primary for one of the Alabama Senate seats was called in favor of Roy Moore on Tuesday. Moore defeated Trump-backed Luther Strange, who had been appointed to the seat by the Alabama Governor in February after President Trump had appointed Jeff Sessions as his Attorney General. Luther Strange was endorsed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as well. CNN reported that, following the announcement, Trump angrily vented at McConnell, who he felt misled him to endorse Strange. Moore, seen as the anti-establishment candidate, had been endorsed by former Trump advisor Steve Bannon.
