FBI Makes Arrests in College Basketball Investigation
The FBI arrested 10 people in connection with an alleged pay-to-play scheme in college basketball. Those arrested include college basketball coaches, Adidas executives, and several financial advisers. One of the alleged schemes claims that financial advisers and individuals associated with Adidas paid bribes directly to student-athletes, and in return, the players agreed to commit to a school sponsored by Adidas and be represented by the advisers once they reached the NBA. The complaints also allege that coaches received bribes from the advisers in exchange for introducing them to players and pressuring them to retain their services. The coaches involved in the crimes were associated with Auburn University, the University of Arizona, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Southern California.
