Jennifer Lopez, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Marc Anthony, Luis Fonsi, and other Puerto Rican celebrities have pledged aide to help the island after it was ravaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria. In a press conference on Sunday, J-Lo announced that she would be donating $1 million in support, and Miranda tweeted about joining efforts with Hispanic Federation to help Latino families and institutions. Miranda also tweeted criticism toward President Trump over the slow speed in which the government will be sending aid to the island. CNN states that the devastation in Puerto Rico is “apocalyptic” and Governor Ricardo Roselló has said they have entered a humanitarian crisis. As of Sunday, Puerto Rico was still without electricity and cell power, and now food and gas supplies are running low.
