In a leaked document from the U.S. Department of the Interior, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke recommended the Trump Administration reduce the size of four national monuments. All four monuments are located in the western United States, two in Utah, one in Nevada and one in Oregon. Along with downsizing these monuments, which would make land available for mining and logging, three other monuments would be freed up for logging. Many see this action as the Trump Administration making another attempt at erasing Former President Obama and other former Democratic president’s legacies. These lands had originally been designated for protection because of their natural beauty, but Trump has stated that he sees it as a “massive land grab” by left-leaning former presidents.
