Hearing Loss in Havanna
Twenty-one American diplomats in Cuba mysteriously lost their hearing last week, and now the Trump administration is considering shutting down the U.S. Embassy in Havana. Symptoms among the victims include permanent hearing loss, concussions, nausea, headaches, and ear-ringing. It is unclear what exactly caused the incident, whether it was a sonic attack or faulty spying device, but the Cuban government claims no involvement and “is eager to help resolve the matter.” Obama reopened the embassy in 2015 after a 54-year estrangement, but it looks like the U.S. and Cuba may not be out of the woods just yet.
