No More Headline-Tampering for Advertisers
As part of their efforts to crack down on fake news after the chaotic 2016 election, Facebook has announced that advertisers will not be allowed to make changes to headlines that appear with their ads. This complements the ban preventing regular users from altering headlines of news articles in place since this June. Advertisers claimed that they modified headlines to improve clarity, not mislead readers, but Facebook has decided ‘no more.’ The war on fake news continues.
