NCAA Lifts Ban on North Carolina
The NCAA lifted the ban on North Carolina Tuesday after state legislature and governor repealed the so-called “bathroom bill”. 6 months ago, the NCAA banned North Carolina from holding championship events in hopes of protecting the LGBTQ community. The statement released from the NCAA was carefully worded. It appears the organization, which governs all college athletics, will still make decisions on a case-by-case basis. The statement also notes that applying hosts will submit “additional documentation” about their nondiscriminatory environment. This end to the boycott is also getting applause from other states such as Texas, who is hosting next year’s men’s Final Four and is currently considering similar limitations like North Carolina’s new law.
