Fyre Festival Goes Up in Flames
Picture an exclusive island in the Bahamas filled with famous models and top artists like Blink-182 and Major Lazer with luxury accommodations and gourmet catered meals. That’s what many expected when they shelled out thousands of dollars to come to the opulent music weekend, Fyre Festival. Instead, they were greeted by dirt fields, soggy tents, sand sandwiches – and no A-listers in sight. General disappointment soon turned to panic as the festival was canceled and attendees tried to get back to the Florida mainland. Chaos ensued as the festival promoted as a selfie-taker’s paradise by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid turned into a looters’ heaven in ‘Survivor-like’ conditions. There were early indications that the festival was not ready and even event organizers, Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, admitted they “were in over [their] heads.” All customers will be refunded, with or without the selfie to prove it.
