To Build or Not to Build
Congress must pass a government spending bill by Friday at midnight or the federal government will face a shutdown. President Donald Trump has been insisting that this bill will include over $1 billion be allocated to building a wall along the southern border. However on Monday, President Trump told reporters that funding for the wall could wait until the next budget negotiations. White House officials have said that the funding for the wall is not yet off the table, but with Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, a government shutdown over the border wall would damage the party. The president also backed down from his campaign promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare, asking House Speaker Paul Ryan to pull the bill before it was put to a vote.
