Bob Dylan Decides to Accept Nobel Prize
Bob Dylan, the first singer-songwriter to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, will accept his diploma and medal when he goes to Stockholm, Sweden for a concert later this year. This is the third attempt by the Nobel Academy to present Dylan the award after they were unable to reach him since announcing his victory almost five months ago. He also did attend the awards ceremony this past December. A key piece of the ceremony, a Nobel Lecture performed by the recipient, will not be held. The Nobel Lecture is needed in order for the recipient to receive the prize money included in the prestigious award, but the Academy believes that Dylan will be sending a taped lecture at a later date. It looks like the third time’s the charm.
