Internet Information: How Far is Too Far?

A set of regulations that made it mandatory for Internet service providers to ask users before sharing their information were repealed on Thursday by the Senate. While some Democrats in the Senate voiced concerns that the failure of the regulations could result in privacy invasion, the majority found that to regulate the information would stifle technological innovation, more important than protecting the rights of consumers, who technically can opt out of sharing their information anyway. This is good news for companies like Verizon, who thrive on advertisements and data sharing – but is it good news for Americans who don’t want their search history on display?
