New Zealand says Bye Felicia to US Diplomat
A United States diplomat has been expelled from New Zealand. He was allegedly involved in an accident on March 12th that left him with a broken nose and a black eye. His expulsion from the country came after he refused to cooperate with police investigations due to his immunity as a diplomat. New Zealand’s action on the matter is controversial because according to the 1961 Vienna Convention, all diplomats working in the country are immune from prosecution. However, New Zealand officials have said that it still expects foreign diplomats to waive immunity if there are serious allegations involved.
