Delaware Prison Standoff Ends in Loss of a Life
On Wednesday morning, additional security was called to a building in the largest prison in Delaware when inmates took four prison employees hostage. All entrances to the building were blocked by metal lockers filled with water, and the inmates used unknown weapons to threaten the employees. Throughout the 19-hour standoff, the inmates negotiated with various outside sources, going so far as to call a news outlet in Wilmington, Delaware. They asked for better programming and better prison conditions, but were reminded by negotiators that those things will take time. The standoff ended Thursday with one fatality, a corrections officer.
