Car Bomb Kills Dozens in Bagdad
A car bomb exploded in Bagdad, the capital of Iraq, killing 48 and injuring more than 50 yesterday. ISIS, the Islamic State, claims responsibility for the bomb, saying they were targeting Shia Muslims. This is the third bombing in Bagdad in the last three days, the earlier attacks claimed 24 lives. Thursday’s bombing took out several cars and buildings, leaving a large crater in the ground. The number of fatalities from this attack is likely to rise, rescue workers say. Bagdad remains divided—militants holding the west and Iraqi forces holding the east—and citizens remain afraid for their safety.
