Clear Eyes, Less Violence, Can’t Lose
After debates over children’s safety and a decline in participation, U.S.A. Football, the governing body for amateur football, will introduce new changes to the youth football game. The football game will become more like flag football. According to U.S.A. Football, the field will be smaller, players on the field will decrease from 11 to 6-9, kickoffs and punts will be removed, and players will start in a crouching position. For years, scientists have continued to insist that tackle football be changed due to safety concerns and neurologists have found a degenerative brain disease among former football players. In 2016, the NFL finally recognized the connection between the disease and trauma on the field.
