Tom Petty Dies at 66
Rock and Roll legend Tom Petty died aged 66 on Monday in Los Angeles after suffering cardiac arrest. His longtime manager Tony Dimitriades broke the news on behalf of Petty’s family, and stated that the musician died peacefully surrounded by family and friends. During the day Monday, several news outlets, including CBS and Variety, prematurely reported Petty’s death by posting an obituary which was allegedly confirmed by the LAPD, but the information was quickly corrected to state Petty was still alive and at the hospital being treated for his cardiac arrest. So, in true rock fashion, Petty went out with a bang and died twice in one day.
