Russian Operatives Leave Money Trail
Reports surfaced yesterday that operatives of the Russian government and other Russian organizations spent tens of thousands of dollars on ads across Google products around the 2016 election. Among the products affected was YouTube, Google search, Gmail, and the company’s DoubleClick advertising network. The interesting part of this discovery is that these advertisements do not appear to be affiliated with the same Russian government-linked group that bought out advertisements on Facebook. This means that we could have a bigger problem than originally expected with Russian interference.
