Brexit Vote: Round Two
Last year, a British referendum to leave the European Union passed by a four percent margin, however, the country’s Supreme Court ruled that Article 50 of the EU Treaty, which begins negotiations to leave the trade block, could not be invoked until the country’s lawmakers approve it. This led to the Brexit Bill, which is now being debated in the British Parliament. David Davis, the Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, has told parliament that they cannot block the move that was approved by voters. He claims that this bill comes down to one question, “do we trust the people or not?” If passed, the bill would allow Prime Minister Theresa May to begin these negotiations with the EU.
