Snowden Wants a Pardon
Edward Snowden, the NSA whistle blower, said in a recent interview that he believes that he deserves to be pardoned by President Obama for the charges brought against him that forced him to seek refuge in Russia for the last few years. The charges he faces are for violating the United States Espionage Acts. Snowden’s leak prompted significant changes, including the revoking of the NSA’s authority to systematically collect millions of Americans’ phone records. He has the support of former US Attorney General, Eric Holder, who claims that Snowden performed a “public service” and prompted a debate about surveillance techniques. However, a White House Spokesman has claimed that President Obama’s position on Snowden has not changed.
