The Republican Convention wrapped up on July 21st when Donald Trump officially secured the Republican nomination for President. Disdain for Hillary Clinton was apparent as the crowd cried out “Lock her up!” each night. Donald’s wife, Melania Trump caused controversy on day one when she was accused of plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s address from the 2008 Democratic Convention. House Speaker Paul Ryan announced the GOP ticket on the second day. Ted Cruz was booed off of the stage on night three after his highly anticipated speech did not endorse Trump. Other speakers at the convention were Chris Christie and Ben Carson. Trump’s children also spoke; Ivanka assured people that her father supported women’s rights and Donald Jr. said that this election determines the future of the world. Trump accepted the nomination on the last night. His speech focused on the theme of restoring “law and order” to America and received resounding support from the audience.
