Many Killed in a Warehouse Fire in Oakland
A warehouse, called the Ghost Ship, burst into flames late Friday night in Oakland, CA. It is being called one of the deadliest fires in the city’s history, with 33 dead as of now. Rescue teams have only combed through about a30% of the wreckage, it was announced Sunday. It is unknown how the fire started, but officials have said that the roof collapsed onto the second floor, then partly onto the first floor. It was supposed to be an electronic dance party, and many people were still arriving when the building burst into flames. The Ghost Ship had about 20 people living there and paying rent, though it is reported that the building only had permits for a warehouse, not residents, and didn’t have any sprinklers. Rescue teams will continue to search for missing loved ones.
