Amazon Go Is a Go
The innovative electronic commerce giant Amazon is now trying to gain a foothold in the grocery industry. Built on the business strategy of convenience for customers, the growing company is testing a grocery store in downtown Seattle called Amazon Go, in which customers walk in, grab food from the shelves and walk out again, without ever having to stand in a checkout line. Customers pay through the store’s machine learning, sensors, and artificial intelligence systems that track the items customers pick up. These items are then added to the virtual cart on each customer’s personal Amazon Prime app. While only employees for testing purposes are using the store, Amazon plans to open the store to the public in early 2017.
