Update: Airplane Crash Causes Tragedy in South America
It appears that the LaMia Flight 2933 was out of fuel prior to the crash in Medellin, Colombia. Colombian media recently released an audio clip where a crew member told air traffic control, “The plane is in total electric failure and without fuel” before crashing into the hillside. Fuel exhaustion happens when fuel is cut off, causing the engines to stop working. It also is evident that the fuel tanks were dry when it hit the hillside. These updates add new details to the final moments before the crash that killed 71 people, including Brazilian soccer players. The survivors included three soccer players, two crew and one journalist.
