One Former Refugee's Election Day Victory
While the election on Tuesday did not end in a victory for female candidate Hillary Clinton, one woman in Minnesota is celebrating her own success. Ilhan Omar, once a Somalian refugee, was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives. She is the first Somali-American Muslim woman to hold this position in the United States, and hopes that her victory will help change the way Americans, and especially immigrants, view politics and politicians in the US.
