In Morocco, two teenage girls that are facing up to three years in jail for being caught kissing each other. Under Article 489 of the Moroccan Penal Code, homosexual activity, or “a lewd or unnatural act with an individual of the same sex,” is punishable by law. This Article is currently being challenged by the Moroccan Association of Human Rights. In addition, the interest group Alternative Movement for Individual Liberties (MALI) have been supporting the two teen girls and LGBT rights in Morocco.
