Beyoncé surprised fans at the Country Music Association Awards Wednesday night with a performance alongside the Dixie Chicks. Queen B is not usually in the country music genre, but she helped celebrate the 50th anniversary of the awards with a performance of her country-track “Daddy Lessons” from her album Lemonade. The Dixie Chicks have been covering this song on their most recent tour. While the performance did receive a standing ovation from the live audience, some viewers weren’t very happy. One fan wrote on Twitter, ‘‘I was going to watch, but not now.’’ This is not the first time a non-country artist has performed at the CMA Awards. Justin Timberlake performed with Chris Stapleton last year.
