Zika Virus Hits Texas
A woman from Cameron County, near the Mexico border, has been diagnosed with the Zika Virus. The virus has already passed through the woman’s blood stream so she can no longer pass the disease on to other mosquitoes, and no other cases have been reported in the state so far. Cases of Zika have appeared in Texas previously, but they had all been contracted in other countries then brought to Texas. This woman has contracted the disease from a local mosquito. The only other state to have domestic cases of the virus is Florida.
