South Carolina Church Shooter Plans to be Own Attorney
Dylann Roof, the main suspect in the murder of nine members of a black church in Charleston, was granted permission by a Judge Richard Gergel of the US District Court for South Carolina on Monday to represent himself in his upcoming trial. The judge did not agree with the decision for Roof to represent himself because he had an excellent team of lawyers with experience with cases involving the death penalty, but he agreed to let Roof represent himself. Roof has 33 charges against him. Jury selection started on November 21st.
