Black Friday Shoppers Turn to the Internet
This past discount filled four-day weekend saw 154 million shoppers, up from 151 million in 2015, searching for bargains as we approach the holiday season. The holiday season has historically been very critical for retailers, who can make up to 40% of their annual sales during that time. Among the 154 million shoppers from Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, nearly 109 million people shopped from their computers and mobile devices, while only 99 million shopped at physical stores, according to a survey from the National Retail Federation. This gap, which increased from the previous Black Friday weekend, shows a trend of customers doing more of their shopping from electronic devices.
