Teenagers and Space . . . the Perfect Combination
Fourteen South African high school girls are working together to launch what could potentially be Africa’s first private space satellite. If successful, the satellite will scan the surface of the continent for food data, among other things. The girls are hoping to use the data to help improve the future of Africa for many by improving agriculture and keeping track of less populated areas. No black African has every traveled to space, so this innovation in aerospace is exciting for many African citizens. The girls hope that their advancements in the field will show other teen girls that they are capable of anything.
