To Repeal or Not to Repeal?
Obamacare, unlike its namesake, may not be on its way out. While the repeal of the Affordable Care Act was a top priority in Trump’s campaign, Trump has lightened his position after his meeting with President Obama. Trump told the Wall Street Journal that he would consider keeping provisions allowing adult children to stay under parents’ plans and forbidding coverage refusal by insurance companies. "I like those very much," stated Trump. Under Obamacare, only 8.9% of Americans now lack health insurance. “People who think we can just repeal Obamacare and everything will be great are in for a very, very, very rude surprise,” said Washington and Lee law professor and health care expert, Timothy Jost. Michael Sparer, Columbia professor, sums the issue up, “The new administration is going to want to do something fast to show that they are keeping their promise to fundamentally change the health care system.”
