President-Elect Meets the President at the White House
President-Elect Donald J. Trump and President Barack Obama met in the Oval Office Thursday. Trump was accompanied by his wife, Melania, who also met with First Lady Michelle Obama. This was not the first time the two had a conversation since the election results– Obama called Trump early Wednesday with a congratulatory message. Although Trump was the one who led the “birther” controversy against Obama, the President said he was “encouraged” by the hour and a half conversation. After the meeting, Obama said to reporters, "My number one priority in the coming two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our president-elect is successful." Trump feels that it was a "great honor" to meet with President Obama.
