Election: A Win for Weed
On election night, voters in California, Massachusetts, and Nevada approved recreational marijuana use. In addition, other states have passed medical marijuana provisions, creating the biggest electoral victory for marijuana reform since 2012. According to Ethan Nadelmann, the executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, California’s leadership will hopefully lead to national marijuana legalization. However, there is still uncertainty about this claim because of Trump’s entrance into the presidency, who is more skeptical than the Obama administration on drug reform.
