Google’s Self-Driving Cars Hit Two Million Miles
Google’s self-driving cars hit an automotive milestone that no other company has reached: two million miles on the automated odometer. Google announced this after a quiet summer for their programming, while Uber released a small fleet of self-driving cars in Pittsburg and Ford announced plans to create cars without steering wheels or pedals by 2021. This potential plan for robotic transport is known as Level Five autonomy, in which humans do not need to be involved. Google says that it is now working to make its self-driving cars feel smoother and act less paranoid, as Google’s self-driving Lexus drives like “your overly cautious grandma.”
