Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Sentenced to Prison
Kathleen Kane, former Pennsylvania Attorney General, has been sentenced to 10 to 23 months in prison for charges of perjury and abuse of power while holding office. Kane was once considered one of the shining stars in Democratic state politics, promising to shake down the system of Pennsylvania state politics, meaning the corruption-prone establishment of the state base. However, the the temptation might have been too great for Ms. Kathleen Kane. After entering office, her reign as Attorney General was marked by abuses of power and leaking grand jury records. In August, Kane was found guilty of two felony perjury charges and seven misdemeanor counts, finally forcing her to resign from office. Yesterday was her sentencing.
