Rick Pitino Charged By NCAA
Louisville’s head basketball coach Rick Pitino was charged with failing to monitor a staff member by the NCAA on Thursday. This all follows an accusation made by former escort Katina Powell in her book released October 2015. Powell alleged that Louisville’s former director of basketball, Andre McGee, paid escorts thousands of dollars and gave tickets in exchange for sex with the players and Louisville recruits in their dorm. A head coach is responsible for the actions of any staff member and is held accountable for any violations. For Pitino, this means that not knowing what happened is not an excuse. Pitino could face a penalty, while the university has not been charged with any violations.
