Derrick Rose is Cleared
On 4:30 p.m. ET on October 19th, 2016, an eight-member jury decided that Derrick Rose, the New York Knicks point guard, and his two friends are not liable in a civil lawsuit that was filed by Rose’s ex-girlfriend, Jane Doe. Doe accused Derrick Rose and two of his friends of gang-rape while she was unconscious due to drugs or alcohol in August 2013. Neither side denied that sex happened, but there were differing perspectives on whether or not consent was given. However, Rose won the case. His lawyer, Mark Baute, said “all three men were innocent from day one.” Rose is expected to attend full practices in preparation to play the opener game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 25th.
